This week in Class...

This week in government, we are diving into the Electoral College. This will be an interesting and exciting topic!

My computer classes will continue to explore all of the fun things about Microsoft PowerPoint!

Congrats to Volleyball!

A big congratulations goes out to Goodpasture's girls volleyball team! They are on their way to state this Wednesday through Friday. We want to wish them lots of luck!

Because of the game on Wednesday, students will be allowed to leave school (with a signed permission note) after 5th period.

Government Project

This week is an exciting week in government class as well as at Goodpasture. With Homecoming this Friday and floats happening all week, everyone is excited and full of school spirit.

We have been talking this week in Government class about political parties and beginning our study of the executive branch. On Wednesday (for A days) and Thursday (for B days) I am assigning the big project for the semester. In groups, students will be putting together a Presidential campaign. They will pick someone to run for President and then create all of the necessary campaign material. This project will be worth 150 points. Students will have 3 class periods to work on the project at school. There will be some required time outside of class as well. The projects are due on November 16 (for A days) and November 17 (for B days).

I will attach the assignment sheet and the rubric for the project to an email.

I am so excited about this project. It is a big hit with students every year and a fun way to learn more about the executive branch!

PowerPoint Here We Come!

In computer class this week, we are beginning our study of PowerPoint. It is going to be fun to discover all of the cool things that this program can do. On top of having fun with PowerPoint, we will also be learning how to use this program to complete school work in all subjects!

Government Test!

Yesterday and today, we spent time reviewing for our 2nd government test of the year. "A" day classes will take their test tomorrow. "B" day classes will take their test on Friday!

Welcome Back!

I hope that everyone had a fabulous Fall Break. Mine was wonderfully relaxing. As we move more into the month of October, I am realizing that we are about to start a very busy and exciting time in the school year. Tomorrow all of our Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors begin work on Homecoming floats. Then next Friday, we will celebrate Homecoming with a parade, crowning ceremony, and football game. Then the next Friday is the girls powder puff football game. October is going to be a very busy but fun month here at Goodpasture!

Homework for Wed/Thurs

The only government homework for Wed/Thurs is to finish up your bill to law flow charts if they were not completed in class.

Fall Break!!!

Don't forget that Fall Break is this Friday and next Monday. I hope you all enjoy a fabulous time off!

Last Week of the Quarter

I can't believe that we are already at the end of the first 9 weeks. This first quarter has flown by!

In government class, we will be talking about the process that a bill takes to become a law and campaign fundraising in Congress.  We are not having a 9 weeks test. Instead, our unit test over Congress will be at the end of next week. We will spend the first part of next week reviewing.

In computer class, we will be learning how to blog all week!
